catalogue prices are the most discused subject among collectors

I make daily decisions on pricing and there are a lot of aspects occuring again an again

this is my opinion : based on a recent aquirement of rare sets in the Sucard collection and my review of catalogue prices :

- in most sets are 2 or more dificult cards, rarest in the set; this is reflected in the manco-lists where these cards occur as missing in a almost complete set

- also : not all cards in a new aquired collection (or in one serie) are NOT of same quality; as a result : collectors themselves are very aware of this and ask for MINT cards a percentage higher than MY catalogue price

- selling prices in public auctions reflect sometimes a price which is NOT EXACTLY reflecting price, because if 2 or more bidders bid for a stunning find, then i can not multiply that price with 12 to have a serie-price. My price is reflecting a card-price to be multiplied by 12. I cannot set a price for each individual card ( to time- AND and place-consuming AND not understandable for readers ) … so it must be a choice of minimum to maximum divided by 12 because there are always 12 cards in a suchard set

- when aquiring again, good condition and COMPLETE rare sets … then I must decide : wlll I make this set incomplete and sell one 1 or few chromos … those missing on lists ! … at full catalogue price, minus a reduction for quantity and evaluation in my shop ( very complicated when sending because good sets are then incomplete and selling by mail requires somtimes months due to vacation, sickness, family complications etc etc )….

- after splitting a set then regular prices are there again : price of card ( rare = catalogue price AND not so rare in the set = reduction ), condition and rarety must be reflected in reductions on catalogue prices. After a month and not realized some sets … then rdeution gets higher … please be aware of all this and just make offers on catalogue prices … which i can grant or refuse … nobody looses

- all by all a very complicated business in an area where all collectors are watching catalogue prices and selling prices.
